Student Welfare & Safeguarding

The wellbeing of students at our summer school is our top priority. A dedicated welfare team is on-site 24/7, working closely with teaching staff and house staff to ensure that each student feels safe, supported and able to thrive.

Emotional Wellbeing

With a focus on individual care, our dedicated welfare team builds trusting relationships, ensuring every student feels safe to express themselves. The programme uses the Zones of Regulation framework to help students reflect on their emotions, regulate their responses, and develop resilience. Tutors provide daily check-ins, while house staff are always available for informal support and guidance.

Workshops on mindfulness, healthy living, and study skills further promote student wellbeing. The emphasis is on creating a positive, nurturing environment where young people can develop their confidence and independence.

Safeguarding

Winchester College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All staff undergo thorough training and vetting, and safeguarding procedures are embedded into every aspect of school life.

Students are supervised at all times, whether in lessons, activities, boarding houses or excursions. Clear codes of conduct are in place to ensure respectful and responsible behaviour, while channels for raising concerns are well publicised and accessible.
